As reported in the Herald:
Police investigating a New Year’s Day killing at an Antigonish party laid a second-degree murder charge against a Dartmouth man Monday.
Robert Harris Lamb, 20, of Howe Street is accused in the killing of Southside Antigonish Harbour’s Jonathan Robert Beaton. Mr. Lamb is not in custody, however, and police are expected to seek a warrant for his arrest later today.
Provincial RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. M.J. DeLuco said Mr. Lamb was a person of interest in the case for some time.
“We’ve now developed sufficient grounds to proceed with the charge,” she said.
“We’re seeking a warrant for his arrest."
A huge brawl broke out during a New Year’s Eve party inside a rented home at 123 College St. Police rushed there at 12:17 a.m. New Year’s Day. Five people were rushed to hospital, including Mr. Beaton, who died there.
Mr. Lamb is the fourth person charged from the brawl.
Mr. Lamb is wanted on at least five other warrants. The charges are for breaching release conditions, failing to attend court and obstructing police.
