January 1, 2010
GO #10-337 - Indecent Act - A 33-year-old Truro man was taken into custody in Dartmouth at approximately 2:30 this afternoon in relation to an indecent act. Police received information that a man inside a vehicle on Sheridan Street was masturbating while attempting to speak with children who were in the area. The male was arrested without incident inside his vehicle on Woodland Avenue. The male remains in custody and the investigation continues. Charges are expected later today. An update will be sent once charges are laid.
Update - January 1, 2010 (6:24 p.m.)
The accused was charged with one count of Indecent Act and two counts of Invitation to Sexual Touching and two counts of sexual assault. He was release on bail with conditions to refrain from contact with children under the age of 16 years of age.
Update - January 2, 2010 (4:55 p.m.)
The information has been laid in this incident and as a result the identity of the accused can be released - Scott Vincent Dow, a 34-year-old resident of Truro. With regard to the sexual assault charges, there was no physical contact between the accused and the two children, girls ages 9 and 11, but the victims believed it was the accused's intent.
